HI-8 TAPES

Somewhere on one of these tapes is a shot from approx 25 years ago.

A stack of Hi 8 tape cassettes, some play perfectly, some are infected with mould.

The fungus causes the tape to stick and snap in the machine.

It also transfers to the play heads and can cross contaminate other tapes.

The solution – dismantle the cassette housing and surgically remove the infected sections of tape.

Re-splice the tape and rebuild the cassette housing.

The jeopardy – will the required images be on the repaired tape or on the extracted magnetic ribbons in the waste bin?
